Lubbock had the lock on the Super Pro Gamblers
final. David Dean staged up against Alan Bracey in the last round
on Friday. David used a great .007 light and a dead on 6.207 on a
6.20 dial to grab the win. Alan was no slouch in the runner up
position - how about .016 on the tree and a 6.389 on a 6.38 dial.

In the Pro final, it was Firebird vs
motorcycle on the last lap. Charles Baucam of Abilene stopped the
clocks at 6.60 on a 6.58 dial. Runner up John Choate (Tuscola) fell off on
his run, showing 6.53 on a 6.23 dial. |

Super Pro Gamblers: Abilene's
Johnny Brazell is Shootout Saturday's Super Pro Hero, defeating
Levelland's Rusty Rose in the final to claim the Wally. Johnny
got the better end of a double breakout race, showing .029 on the
tree and running just a hair under his 6.32 dial with a 6.315.
Rusty busted out big, running 4.7944 under his 4.82 dial with a
nearly identical .028 light. |

|
Pro Gamblers: Lubbock must have brought
the heavy hardware down to Abilene, with this final being the
second all Lubbock race of the weekend. Father and son square
off here and the young'un put the whoop on Pop at the stripe.
Kris Pope hits a .008 on the tree, then clocks 6.579 on a 6.56 dial
for the win and the Wally. Dad Ricky Pope cut a decent .022
light but broke out with a 6.882 under his 6.89 dial. |

|
Jr. Dragster Gamblers:
Aubrey Faught (Abilene) got the win in the Jr. Gamblers when Cade
Johnson (Tuscola) went red in the final |
 |
|
Southwest Superchargers: Seminole,
Texas took control in the final, with Bill Norman using a .002 light
to give himself a good edge at the top end. It worked, and
Bill backed out a little with a 4.85 against the 4.70 index.
Jacob Penner ran a closer 4.792 against the 4.70 index, but his
light did him in right from the start. This is the
Supercharger's first visit to Abilene. They put on a great
lane swapping, timing block smashing show and we hope to see them
again in 2008. Visit their web site at
