A. J. Enterprizes Top ET: IHRA Division 2&4 director Frank Kohutek of Mesquite (top) came out to do chassis certifications.  He also borrowed a car so he could do a little drag racing while he as out here.  Winning Top ET was a good little bit of drag racing and Frank did just that.  With a .002 light and a 4.50 on a 4.48 dial, Frank went quick on both ends of the track for the win. Phillip Pennington of Three Rivers took the runner up spot, with a close .011 light and a 4.93 over his 4.91 dial.  Seems like a .01x light won't buy you much these days.

Pinnacle Countertop Solutions Modified ET: Jason Brewer of Lubbock (top) hammered home the win in Modified in a double dead on foot brake final against Merkel's Chris Kelly.  In another example of ".01x light won't buy you anything today" Jason left the line with a killer .002 reaction time and ran a right on 6.539 on a 6.53 dial for the win.  Chris had an good pass with a .014 light and early perfect 8.123 on an 8.12 dial.  Good, but not quite good enough as Jason took the finish line by .0017.  There are days when a .014 light can get you a win, but this wasn't one of those days.

Longmire Plumbing Jr. Dragster: In the Jr final, it was San Angelo's Jalen Johnson staged up against Tanner Thorpe of Knickerbocker.  It was over at the lauch, with Tanner hitting a just barely red -.005 light to give the win over to Jalen.
Top ET Gunslinger: Kevin Bracey of Levelland got the win in the Top Gunslinger final when Dillion Bontrager of Wylie went a too quick -.024 red on the tree.
Dial-a-joke
Modified Gunslinger: Jokers dialed the Mod Gunslinger final, with Sambo Tyra and Bobby Knox both dialing 9.00 for a head up pedal-fest final round. This makes more sense when you know that both these ya-hoos run in the 6.80s.  Once they left the line, you could tell there was going to be a big brake check at the finish line since nobody really wanted to lift.  Bobby had the best brakes, slowing to a 7.47 at a sizzling 59 MPH on a 9.00 for the win.  Sambo scooted on through with a 7.11 at a speedy 79 MPH under his 9.00.  Um, that's a double breakout I think.   The Mod Gunslingers split the pot 4 ways in the semi finals, so it was down to a run for the win sticker.  Footbrakers would split a cheeseburger in a final.

Whitten Inn Street Money-: Jeremy Smith of Lamesa took the Street Money, taking out Early's Adam Kennedy on the last lap.  Jeremy had the better light with a .146 to Adam's .243.  At the top end, it was Jeremy probably on the brakes for a 7.55 on a 7.45 dial to win.  Adam's car didn't run the number either, posting an 11.52 on an 11.47 dial.

Max's Kawasaki Motorcycle: Stacy Calder of Abilene (left) faced off against Tuscola's John Choat in the motorcycle final round.  It was close on the dials with Stacy running 6.129 on a 6.13 dial against John's 6.117 on a 6.12 dial. In spite of the double breakout, the race was really won on the line when Stacy hit a great .010 light and John had a slower .191.
Dialing For Dollars: Kevin Bracey won $305 in this weeks Dialing For Dollars round.  Kevin ran 4.851 on a 4.85 to pick up the cash bonus.
If We Still Gave Top Speed and Low ET of The Meet Like The Old Days:   In the way back, you'd get a trophy for Top Speed of the Meet.  This weekend Frank Kohutek would have claimed that prize.  In the borrowed dragster, Frank layed down a blistering 4.247 @ 164.29 MPH in the dial for dollars round.  Must have turned on the juice.
Top ET Gamblers: Billy Williams won a double breakout final against Vance Lakey.  Billy had a .040 light and ran 5.138 under his 5.16 for the win.  Vance had a better .014 light but ran farther under at 5.41 on a 5.45 dial.

Modified Gamblers:  Todd Leatherwood of Snyder got the win in the Mod Gamblers when Broady Tibbetts of Coleman went -.063 red in the final round.
