After having to put this race off once for cold weather, we came close to rescheduling again because of cold temps.  Everybody likes a cold Bud, but not necessarily a cold Bud race.  Friday cleared off late in the day but it was barely in the 40s and it hit freezing overnight.  Saturday was clear and sunny, but the north west wind running 25-40 MPH plus the maybe-we'll-get-to-60-maybe-not temps made for a crisp and questionable day, so the race was pushed to Sunday.  And finally it was nice, little chilly in the morning but finished up warm.  The wind still blew so, but hey - they is west Texas, we're all about wind.  Thanks again to Budweiser and Ben E. Keith distributing for their support again this year!

Sunday Eliminators

A. J. Enterprizes Top ET: Casey Beatty took home the win in Top ET, besting Allan Bracey of Lubbock in the final.  Beatty's winning lap was built with a .015 light and clocked a 4.920 on a 4.91 dial.  Allan was a little farther off, with a .025 light and a 6.925 on a 6.90.  Don't feel too bad for Allan - since Allan was the highest finisher in Top ET that was signed up in the points program, he won a set of Mickey Thompson slicks.  The Bracey's come in a bunch and they score well - pictured is Allan - Top ET runner up, Cole Bracey - Pro Footbrake runner up and Drew Bracey - Jr. Dragster winner.

Pinnacle Countertop Solutions Modified ET: Sambo Tyra of Abilene went unchecked for seven rounds to take a clean sweep in Modified.  In the Final, it was Sambo with a .045 light and a 6.873 on a 6.81 dial for the win.  runner Up Chris Blackstock of Cisco ran closer at 8.088 on an 8.04 dial, but missed the tree with a .117 reaction time.

Longmire Plumbing Jr. Dragster: Drew Bracey (see Top ET photo) of Lubbock went dead on for the win in Jr. Dragster, defeating Heath Kiser of Levelland (pictured).  Drew used a 7.999 on a 7.99 dial to cover his slow .214 light.  Heath had the better .162 light but ran a 7.993 off his 7.90 dial.
Rhino Linings of Abilene All Class Quick: Doug New of Abilene ran a 6.644 on his 6.60 dial with a killer .005 reation time to take the win in All Class Quick.  Runner up Joseph Tinsley ran a bit closer to his dial, clocking 4.933 on a 4.90 dial but his .037 light just wasn't enough to cover Doug's advantage off the line.
TSTC West Texas Pro Footbrake: Bobby Knox of Early took home a win in the new Pro footbrake class.  A 6.78 on a 6.74 dial with a .057 light and that slick Jeff Tibbets paint job was all it took.  Runner up Cole Bracey posted a 6.58 on a 6.55 dial but only managed a .128 light.
Whitten Inn Street Money: Theresa Dempsey starts her year off right with a win in Street Money.  This week's runner up was David Lara, who come from San Antonio (really) to race with us.  It was a double breakout final, with Theresa running 8.71 under a 8.73 dial and David pushing the Corvette to a 8.92 under his 8.97, but it was all over on the starting line when David left a bit early, going -.053 on the tree to give the win to Theresa.
Max's Kawasaki Motorcycle: Stacey Calder of Abilene got the better of Abilene's Bruce Siburt in the Motorcycle final round. Stacey got Bruce on the tree, hitting a .182 reaction time to Bruce's .196 RT.  Afer that it was a show, with Stacey crossing first with a 6.57 on a 6.35.  Bruce put on the show with a great hook and couple of wheel stands before coasting across the top end.  Stacey won, but Bruce got all the style points on that pass.
